Motivation and Inspiration
Last night was a 3:00 trainer ride. I really wanted to go 3. Would have been happy with 2:30. Been okay with 2....... I manned up and did 3:00 (actually 2:58, the show I was watching was over - lol)
The last 20 minutes were hard. Legs talking back. I wanted to watch the Ranger game (I only have movies in my 'dungeon'). I was getting tired (physically and mentally....it was 11:15pm after all), and I was getting ansy. I pushed thru that.....and I felt better for it. I know that the scenario above will be 100x that during my race and that my legs, lungs, and mind will not only be 'talking back'....they'll be yelling, screaming, crying.....just like my 7 year old. haha.
I've also had some doubts recently. Not about my fitness or the race (well....yes, the race) but it's the whole enormitty of the race. 140.6 miles. That's a lot to wrap your head around.
What if.....what if.....what if......that's where I'm at now. The I saw this on FB this morning....
Also....as inspriation, a buddy of mine (who's obviously done an IM race) sent me this. If you're following me on Instagram (if not....follow my ass) I posted it up yesterday as inspriation. I'm thinking that after the race, I'll get something similar tatt'd on me.
Have a great weekend followers. Do Work. Make Shit Happen!

It's mah Baby Momma's burfday...
The light of my life, my world, my everything......
She's been doing some pintrest projects and had a bunch of little wooden letters laying around. I made this for her to wake up to this morning.
As it's her birthday, we are going to dinner tonight and I will probably over eat and then not want to workout. So....I got up and did a 2 mile jog (had 4 on the schedule) and then swam 1600m (had 1800 on the schedule). My time for the 1600m was 27:25. I was flying today (not on purpose). I was going through the water with ease, breathing was on point, smooth strokes.....it all came together. It'll probably fall apart on Friday for my next swim....but today was what I needed.
My buddy and co-mentor JFord is giving away a hydration pack on his blog. Click the big words to enter. Tell em Brad sent you. He'll know what you mean.
Also....last night, the 7 year old wanted to do her own "home improvment project". I got 2 scrap 2x4's, cut them and made a "frame". What we are going to do is mount it to the house, outside, and put little flowers on it. It's like a plant frame. She wanted it pink, so daddy went to Home Depot and got pink spray paint for it. By the time I got home from there and finished it all up, it was 9p. I was supposed to do 3:00 on the bike, but settled for 2:30. Watched the movie Sinister.....HOLY CRAP!....and then watched another episode of FireFly...then called it a night since I was getting up earlier to 'Do Work' this morning.

Summer in Winter - Again??
Seriously....it was in the low 70's yesterday and today it's supposed to be in the mid-to-upper 70's. I'm really digging this weather. I was able to run last night outside. A nice 4 miles in a littl over 42:00. I can't seem to get back down into sustained 10:00 miles. I'm not at a good weight for it now (201lbs) but it's frustrating to not be able to consistantly run at that pace. The positive takeaway is that I'm able to do the distances.....so....the speed will start to increase.
Yesterday I got my Ultegra 6500 cassette at Performance Bike with the help of the "Spin Doctor" there. He was a great help in getting me what I need. Ordered a new chain from Amazon too. With the new wheels, cassette, and chain all in (tomorrow), I'm hoping to get it on the bike within the next week or so and being able to get out on the road. I actually don't mind the trainer, but with the new parts, I wanna ride!!!!!
My 6 year old wanted to "run" yesterday too. When we got home, I set the treadmill up for her and let her get after it. Poor girl is as uncoordinated as her mom and dad. She likes to run though.....just need to foster that.

I was Runn'ning
Still been chilly and somewhat crappy weather for DFW. Did another run on the treadmill for 38 minutes. The schedule called for 4 miles (40 minutes) but the movie I was watching got over and as the credits rolled, I thought....meh, this is good.
I hate the treadmill, but I guess (and here's the admission part)......I guess it will make me better. Ouch - hurts to say and even type.
Tonight is another "lovely" (think positive, right) treadmill run.
Tomorrow, Friday - for those keeping score at home - is a 45 minute triainer ride. That may be done in the morning since it's Family Movie night at the house. X-Men 2 "X2" is what's on tap for the main feature. I love the time with the fam.
As my boy JFord said to enocurage me......... "Do Work, bro....Do....Work"
Maybe he isn't so much of a No Talent Ass Clown as I make him out to be.
Follow his blog....and follow mine, dammmnitttttt.
